A shout-out from one of Repour’s biggest fans! When we need to hold any bottles with the absolute assurance the wine will maintain its freshly-poured integrity from the moment of uncorking, we work exclusively with Repour.

Excited to be part of BerserkerDay 15 this year! Check out our deals in the link.

Tom, how do you include a gift note? I don’t see that option online.

Thank you! In for a 24 pack

These work better for me than any other wine saver device.

Bill,

We don’t usually include gift notes, but for anyone ordering today, just send me a note at tom@repour.com with your order # and what you’d like the note to say, and I’ll make sure it gets added into the order as its processed.

Tom

I am in for some more, have picked these up the last couple of times. Todd and I were having this debate on whether you need them for young wines, he says yes, I generally just use them for more mature wines. I’m curious, Tom, thoughts on how your product works for more mature wines, let’s say wine in the 25+ year range. I know the ideal is to pop a mature bottle and consume it entirely, I’m not doing that by myself on a weeknight, and don’t always have somebody that I can share the bottle with.

No need to chime in Tom and Barb, we know I’m correct, and if you agree with Alfert, it’s only because you feel sorry for him since he has a very delicate personality

Thanks, Warren; we think Repour is pretty special, too! If there’s anything we can do for you, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Great! If you have any questions, let me know!

Robert,

Thanks for the nice note. The answer to your questions is it depends.

Repour is designed around a timeline of removing oxygen that matches the “normal” oxidation processes associated with bacterial breakdown of Alcohol to Acetic Acid. That is to say, it is intentionally not an immediate process of eliminating all oxygen from the bottle. On your more mature wines, how effective Repour works will depend on what process the wine is breaking down under, and the speed (or sensitivity ) to “oxidation”. So if its a wine that is know to breakdown within a couple of hours of being open, your may be disappointed with Repour’s function on that bottle.

That all being said, I find that for most mature wines this rapid degradation is not the case and it is still standard oxidation timelines that we need to preserve under, i.e. Repour still works well.

Todd and Robert…I’m not sure who wins the debate, but all wines need Repour…at some point. Sooner or later the alcohol’s going to turn into vinegar and removing oxygen out of the equation is the only way to stop it from happening.

Tom, I bought one 24 pack for myself (although I have around 50 lying around) and sent 5 more to wine loving friends.

With the 50% off deal for five, maybe I should order 5 more packs to use for gifts when we go to dinner where the host already has too much wine. That might be overdoing it, but it is Berserker Day, and I have only bought 60 bottles of wine so far…

Bill,

Repour makes great gifts and we appreciate you sharing us with others…especially to open and try more wines at a get together and keep what’s leftover fresh for another day.

Second year in a row picking some up. I have been very impressed by these. I’ve had a couple of wines I had let sit for over a month, and they still tasted fresh. I don’t know if there’s a recommended limit to how long one should keep a wine stored with one, but it seems like it worked well for at least a month for me.

We’ve had thousands of independent reviews out to 6 weeks and a pretty extensive blind taste study at 8 weeks, all with great results. (I really don’t know why 6 weeks is so common, but that reference mark has been given a lot of times).

We’ve had reports around Covid from restaurants that closed for a year that when they came back their wines were still great (and served them). We’ve personally tested out to about 7 months. We haven’t done hard analytical studies past 8 weeks, but there have certainly been a lot of informal reports of longer term success. On the record, I’m very confident in recommending up to 2 months. If you happen to test a bottle longer, I’d love to hear your results…send me a note down the road if you do tom@repour.com

Great info, Tom! Thanks! Do you find that the duration of preservation is dependent upon the fill level, as in, will a bottle that’s 3/4 empty hold up about as well as one that’s 3/4 full?

Generally yes.

There are of course various scenarios with caveats, most notably that more air means it takes longer to pull out all the oxygen. If the wine happens to be more sensitive, this longer contact time may give different results, but as a general rule of thumb Repour is as effective in preserving a 3/4 full or 3/4 empty bottle of wine.
