Santa Fe Chicken Soup and Carignane

Last night for a light supper we had a Santa Fe-style Chicken Soup, Progresso Santa Fe Chicken Soup with added chicken stock, garlic, and chipotle chile. This mildly spicy soup was enjoyed with a 2000 Ridge Carignane ‘Buchignani Ranch’ - rich fruit, little tannins, and ok acidity. Then for dessert in our den, watching practice for the Bahrain Formula 1 Grand Prix, we had another 2006 Susana Balbo Late-harvest Mendoza Malbec with TJ’s chocolate bars, 72% cocoa dark for me and Milk chocolate for Carollee. This made a good intoduction to the new teams, drivers, and re-shuffled driver/team combinations for the new season. Tonight we’ll watch the qualifying after dinner.
