yes of course i am aware of that and figure it would be about what it costs me, someone with no shipping scale, about $15. I probably would have taken a bite. But shipping being more than 50% of the bottle price is high. and the fact is, i would picK up a bottle of Sandlands Carignane for under 30 on a retail shelf, i would not do so if closer to $50
Bought my usual mixed 6 pack…never seen the wines at retail…and I ignore the bitching about shipping due to the fact that Tegan makes great wines whose price point means that I don’t worry about popping one or two on a weekday night. I love the wines, the project, and the people.
No bitching here. Economies of scale mean I should either go big (bigger than 2-3 bottles) or go home. It’s a storage issue for me. Glad many others are ordering. I will likely order more in the future, when I have more space.
I was gonna ask about the backstory on Sandlands as they are newly on my radar, bur this seems to have done a good job. Anything else to add about their story? A local shop carries some of their wines and I just might dip my toes into their lineup with a little more persuasion I suppose…
Making old vine wines, mostly from “minor” varieties, usually alcohol levels in the 12s, little or no perceptible oak, reds tend to be bright, light colored and transparent, fruit has a lot of freshness and crunch to it. They drink very well young, but the jury is mixed on opinions of aging.
I haven’t clicked with the chenin or chardonnay, but most people like them. I just order reds now. My favorites tend to be the mataro, trousseau and Zinfandel.
