Sandhi Tasting

Tasted a few wines at Sandhi this week and all were excellent. Here are a few of my favorites:

2013 Sandhi Mt. Carmel – Color was ruby with no sign of its age. Beautiful nose with red fruits. As with all of their wines, so well balanced on the palate with forrest floor and raspberries and a long finish, just lovely. I’m guessing some pretty good stem inclusion that was well integrated. These wines age really well.

2020 Sandhi Bentrock Chardonnay – Great aromatics with apple, hay straw, nutty, and citrus. Good acidity on the palate with lemon, mineral, green apple. Well harmonized and maybe my favorite chardonnay from them.

2022 Sandhi Sanford and Benedict – Stem inclusion was evident on the nose as well as a bit of reduction. After a few minutes, the reduction blew off and the nose was a bit reticent, but you still anticipate the nice red fruit that would come on the palate. I think this needs some time as the acidity seemed to overshadow the fruit a bit at the beginning. But it started to open up showing really nice potential with 5+ years of age.

Had the '23 DDLC as well. It also had nice acidity to it and will be a great wine with some bottle age.

Absolutely agreed on this. I tasted this last year when I visited and immediately bought some.
