Just some random suggestions on theme (no particular order):
Balanced CA wines (a la Eric Asimov)
Syrah from all over the world
2008 vs. 2009 Burgundy
Old world and New World Pinot Brown Bag challenge
US Rhone - Old World Southern Rhone
Italian
Or we can just bring some good wine, just make sure we have a good mix to go with the food (and that means white wines as well).
By the way, what kind of free corkage were you guys able to work out with the restaurant? I looked it up and their official policy is that free corkage Mon-Wed for the “first” bottle only, I am pretty sure we will be opening more than one bottle…
I have heard two suggestions for Old vs new world Rhones. They are near and dear to my heart because our mantra is old world wines produced with California fruit.
Anyone against a Rhone Shootout?
@david sasaki - your the first one on the waitlist.
Precisely why I am bringing an OW Rhone white. I wanted to make sure we had atleast one there. And My vote is for he Carlisle. I prefer lower ABV wines and although I have never had a Carlisle, I hear they are nice examples without hitting that ABV in the high 14s and even 15s
I need to bow out of this. I’ve got a bunch of state tax returns due on 3/15 and the person helping me with them just informed me they need 3/15 off for a medical procedure…GREAT.
