82 degrees here in LA, dry and beautiful on this XMAS day. Merry XMAS to all of you. Last night, I opened a bottle of Henri Goutorbe NV Rose which was delicious. Clean, red fruits, nice acid. For those of you who are into bubbly, and know this Goutorbe style, can you recommend a few others Rose bubblies in this style? I can replace the Goutorbe for 51.99 here in the OC so if there are others in this same price tier and style, I’d appreciate if you would post a few recommendations.
Thanks again, happy holidays.
Charles Heidsieck Rose Reserve
Two-word tip: Camille Saves.
One-word tip: Aubry.

Merry Christmas!
Some of my favorite Roses from growers include: Billiot, Aubry, Camille Saves, Pierre Peters (if you can find it), and for something very different but excellent try Jose Dhondt.
Merry Xmas to you Frank! And to all the Berserkers!!
I have not tried the Goutorbe, but one that might be in your wheelhouse is the Pommery Rose Brut. And the Billecart-Salmon is excellent; it is a favorite of the Mrs.
Thanks,
Ed
I still piss myself laughing every time I remember how Jose’ Dhondt “explained” to me the difference between his Rose’ (a “manly” saignee, naturally
) and a “coloured-up” wine. He poured some of the deeply coloured Saignee into a flute containing some BdB Brut, held it up to the light, and exclaimed in an operatic falsetto: “Voila’ ! Tres feminin!!!”
In addition to the others mentioned, Paul Bara is known for his rose, and I just love the Benoit Lahaye Rose
I find Ledru Rosé, Camille Saves & the André Clouet to be similar to the Gotourbe Frank.
Mind-bendingly good. My go-to wine for barbecue.
I just bought a few of the 1990 brut here for $39/bottle. I felt like I was stealing.
Had the Grand Rose NV last night and it was truly outstanding. ![cheers [cheers.gif]](/uploads/db3686/original/2X/0/0ff9bfcdb0964982cd3240b6159868fbdf215b1a.gif)
Happy Holidays Berserkers!
At a similar price to Goutorbe, I’d consider Bara, Billiot, Clouet, and Gosset. For a little more, Bollinger and Saves.
Thanks for all the replies. I’ll pick up some of these over the next month and try them. Here in the OC, many of these are available. Happy holidays to all of you.
I second (and third) the Jose Dhondt, Camille Saves and Paul Bara recs. Jose Michel, which is imported directly by Envoyer (Greg Koslosky), is an incredibly good QPR. We also like the vintage Roederer rose champagnes.
Frank - sounds like you are beginning a new exploration. You are currently not a big champs guy, correct?
Not sure they are similar in style but A. Margaine Brut Rose is one of my favorites. Wine Exchange has it for $47.
It’s been a while since I’ve had/seen it, but how about Delbeck. I remember it as a beautiful Rose.
That’s because you practically were
. The current Millesime in Europe tends to sell for more than that. Brilliant, long-ageing wines (particularly the Marie de France bottling, but the Special Club and the straight Millesime can be just as good).
