Ron Mansfield

I saw a post from Goldbud Farms yesterday that Ron Mansfield passed away on the 25th. RIP.
It seems like everyone has ever only had good things to say about Ron, his son Chuck who manages Goldbud and their family.
He was a main factor in establishing and farming some of the great vineyards in El Dorado like Barsotti, Fenaughty, Whitters and the Goldbud vineyard. Edmunds St. John, Jolie Laide, Arnot Roberts, Tessier, Donkey and Goat, La Clarine, Belong, Commune and many others get some their great fruit.
The tree fruit they grow is pretty amazing too.
Kristie from Tessier had the idea to toast him at a tasting group last night and Jared from Donkey and Goat donated a 2013 “The Bear” Rhone blend of Fenaughty fruit from magnum for it. It was wonderful.

If you ever watched him drive a forklift you learned what the word professional means.
Hell of a man!

This is so sad. The two times I met him, I really took a shine to him. One hecka of a farmer.

Ron was a pleasure to work with. He was an important force in El Dorado and was the keeper of the keys in terms of great sites.

While most in our world knew him for his grapes, his Goldbud stone fruit was / is on another level.

Condolences and love to his family, co-workers, and friends.
