Jean Fisch posted on Facebook that Rolf Merkelbach died last week. Very sad.*
That is very sad news indeed. The Merkelbach brothers are/were one of my favorite peoducers ever and very much an influence. They’re wines were so frank in their expression and so perfectly unencumbered by modernization. I’ll definitely be cracking one open tonight.

Very sad news. Always enjoyed the wines. Last Friday a friend recently opened up a 99 UW kabi that showed really well. He’ll be missed, but not forget

Just saw on the Selbach-Oster Instagram feed that Alfred Merkelbach has also passed away.
I guess I am not so surprised. Still very sad despite his long life.
