Very sad to hear this.
It remains a very fond memory sitting in his tasting room (a spartan front room of rustic wooden table and chairs) and hearing his thoughts on wine farming, the region in general, and of sharing our thoughts/experiences as visitors. I think we just tasted 3 wines in a 2 hour visit. The very opposite of a fancy operation, and he’d have it no other way.
The wines are IMO not worth anywhere near the current market price, and I’m sure he’d strongly agree with that. He berated the aspirations for wealth, fancy suits and cars in the Langhe. He was a farmer, and happy with that. He farmed well.
