RIP Jim Barrett Chateau Montelena

One of the men who made Napa what it is today. Very sad news.

Farewell to a legend. RIP.

Wow, that is a big loss.

Wow, speechless. He was a Napa icon for sure… big loss

Big loss, indeed. RIP, Jim

Not bad for a kid from the sticks.

Rest well, Jim. You’ve earned it.

Sad news indeed. The passing of a legend.

RIP, Jim. Montelena was the first winery in Napa that I ever visited in person, with my then-friend, now-wife. It would not be a stretch to say Jim’s wines had a hand in my marriage.

One of my favorite producers and a legend in the valley. Also a fun guy who did not actually box in an outdoor ring at the winery, contrary to the movie Bottle Shock. Sad news indeed.

Sad news. Montelena is one of the giants. RIP Jim Barrett.

It is hard to think of another winery that has delivered such consistently high quality at such a reasonable price for over 30 years now.

Just bought some Montelena today. Sad news. RIP Jim.

+1

Great winery. Sorry to see.

Will this change anything at Montelena. His son has been making the wines. The e-mail I got from them said no succession (generally translated as tax) issues.

We are diminished.

RIP Jim.

Sheesh. Rough week in the wine community. RIP Jim.

lived a rich life. I opened a CM CS 09 tonight in honor.

No offense, but are we equating???

Me too, in 1986. RIP Jim. You will be missed.

A great winemaker and pioneer. RIP.
