Anne-Claude Leflaive has passed away this weekend. Very sad news from Burgundy. So many great, inspiring experiences with her wines, not to forget her influence as a biodynamic grower.
Sad news. An icon in Burgundy.
WOW. That’s crazy. We drank 4 different Leflaive wines last week, and they all showed extremely well.
Very sad and very surprising news. Or was it known that she had health problems?
I saw her at a tasting here in Bern less than a year ago and she looked full of energy.
Oh my god…unbelievable. I have met her just a couple of week ago at La Paulée in New York and we had really nice discussions…I can’t believe it…
Wow. . . sad indeed. What a terrible loss. Her wines have been some of the most memorable, magical moments for me.
very sad. Lovely visit w her a decade ago.
Very sad news indeed.
Rest in peace Anne-Claude.
One of the legends of Burgundy. Her chardonnays were among the best I’ve ever had.
Terribly sad news. Once I heard this, I went out and picked up a bottle. Life’s just too damn short.
Opened a bottle of '96 Clavoillons tonight in her honor. It was fantastic. RIP Anne-Claude.
I only got to meet her twice. The first time was at Domaine Leflaive in 2002 when she took us through the winery and explained in detail how they make their Chardonnay. The second time was by coincidence. I was at a tasting at Domaine Dujac in 2004, and we were outside listening to Roz Seysses explain how they do their whole cluster fermentations. There was a woman with sunglasses on who was also listening in the background, but she wasn’t part of our group. When Roz was finished, I went up to the woman and asked her in French if she spoke English. She said, “Yes, absolutely.” I asked her, “Did anyone ever tell you that you look just like Anne-Claude Leflaive?” She took off her sunglasses and said with a laugh, “I am Anne-Claude Leflaive.”
A good story, Ed. So sorry to hear Anne-Ckaude has passed, RIP
Wow, much too early.
She was a 1955 vintage.
Such a loss - RIP, Anne Claude.
Very sad news and she was so young. Her guidance at Domaine Leflaive produced some wonderful wines that gave many us wonderful memories and benchmarks. RIP Anne-Claude.
From Jancis Robinson. I think the 04 Batard was one of the best wines I ever had.
Terrible news. It was a thrill to meet her and taste so many of her fabulous wines at a dinner she hosted at La Paulee a month ago.
Too young.
I’m attending a tasting this weekend in which I’m bringing an 1989 Pucelles. Will toast to her memory.
Very sad news.
We lost Anne-Claude, big Bob McLean and Richie Benaud all in one week. I’m going to don the off-white suit and head out for a long lunch with a couple of bottles of Domaine Leflaive today in honour of these three terrific people.
