And you have to buy a futures close to a year ahead. Stopped making sense several years ago
Lucky to grab a few Reynvaan from LBW yesterday. Any thoughts on why these wines are being discounted so significantly?
Inventories probably piling up. Should be some good deals coming. Be happy with opportunity to buy at a great price! I think Last Bottle, Full Pull, etc will have some great offers for a while.
I know it is off track, but here is my tasting note for 2010 Syrah The Contender.
“Big, theatrical Washington Syrah in the Cayuse style. Big, ripe bing cherries, creamy, smooth blueberry and blackberry compot, tons of granite-like minerals (as one would expect from a wine from the “In The Rocks Vineyard”), smoke, peppered jerky, roasted meat, iron, blood. Powerful velvet-smooth palate, with sizeable mid rush on the fruit when drawing air (wine needs more aging to come out uncoaxed on mid-palate). With the meat and rock bludgeoning on full gulps, it was like drinking a pre-historical wine from the paleolithic period. We had it with a rack of NZ ribs basted in honey and Dijon mustard: it felt like we were eating a dinosaur bird and drinking its blood through the wine glass. The wine even got more monstrous when paired with red beet salad w/ nuts and gorgonzola. YET: despite being unfined and unfiltered, there was no depot: very clean and elegant and even mysterious, long finish. Really like this.” (97 Points)
