Reputable retailer ? How is there storage ?

thanks

Nick

Legit. Typical liquor store storage. The website is horrendously out of date

Huge chain liquor store in Texas; FWIW, you get a discount for cash. As Charlie said, typical liquor store storage.

Online inventory is from the huge Midtown location, and it’s not totally accurate. The main floor is standard room temp. The 3rd floor is refrigerated. There’s no way of knowing where your bottles will be pulled from without asking. When shopping in-store, I’ll specifically ask for refrigerated bottles unless they’re current vintage.

oh yeah, 5% cash discount. If you’re looking at the Dujac, cleared out already [snort.gif]

I’m not aware of any cold storage with the exception of the main Houston location. Each location has its own inventory that is not shown online anywhere. They seem to never change prices, so if the market moves, there’s some good deals. Otherwise, they can be a touch high…had a bottle of '08 Cali cab that may have seem some heat in the el paso location.

Nick - as someone who has bought from Specs off and on over the last 11 years I have to say their storage is at best average at may often be worse. Buying anything other than current release vintages definitely contains risk esp for red burgs. Buy with care would be may advice. The Smith St downtown store is the “mother” branch and has the biggest selection. As others have said, stuff can stay on the shelves for quite a long time at “normal” shop temps (i.e. mid 70’s). That said yesterday did buy the 2007 Mugnier NSG Clos de la Marechale for $66 and it was great.

I was there a couple months ago when this guy came in and bought up just a truckload of Dujac. Pretty rediculous. Asian-American in his late 30’s. You sure you don’t know him Fu? neener

I spoke with the warehouse in Houston today and he told me nobody questions the storage there. Maybe we shouldn’t point out this thread.

hehehehehehehehehehe. Let’s say I do know him and he lives in Houston and some of that might be for me [snort.gif]
