If the one in NYC on 23rd, I shop there quite a bit and always had a good experience. They are knowledgeable with good customer services. They have taken back corked wines and or immediately informed if they couldn’t fill an order. I have had them order special items and had no issue. Not the next selection but a nice neighborhood wine store.

Recently picked up a Henri Giraud and they were polit and helpful.
One of the best wine shops in NYC. The owner, Eddy, is a legend.

I went in there recently for the first time, though I’d walked by many times. The selection was excellent and the staff was good. They had two vintages of the same wine side by side and I grabbed the wrong one. They cheerfully exchanged it a few days later.
I’m not quite sure why it doesn’t have a higher profile among wine geeks in NY. I don’t know anyone who shops there and have never heard about the “legendary” owner. I only went there because Wine Searcher showed that they had something I was looking for that I couldn’t find elsewhere. It’s definitely a serious shop.
Of course, I have no idea how they’d be when it comes to shipping, Michael.

Agree with the other comments here. I asked about an older bottle I saw on Searcher and they had several. Without prompting, the staff person dug around for one that had a better fill than the one in front. It’s a small thing but I appreciated it and the bottle (1994 Jaboulet La Chapelle) was in perfect condition.

How was the La Chapelle? I remember when K&L was blowing that out at $35 in 1998. I bought a bunch and was never disappointed. My last bottle, in 2010, was a joy.
It was very nice. I didn’t have the highest hopes since apparently it was a so-so vintage, but it was beautifully mature and complex with a real lightness on its feet. In a funny way it felt more like Burgundy than the pretty brusque 2013 Montille Taillepieds we had alongside it.
