Worm Ranch is a must stop for a break in tastings, some of the best Mexican food I have ever had and the green salsa is amazing if you like heat.

During our last trip, it was a big drop off from Saffron to the other restaurants we tried in WW. In fact, I can’t actually remember the other places we went to.

If you’re willing to drive a few miles, head on up to Waitsburg for dinner at the Whoopemup Cafe. It’s a fun little diversion. And have a couple drinks at the bar across the street…

+1 on all comments here. The Jimgerman bar has good charcuteirie and nibbles as well (the bar referred to here). When it Waitsburg, arrange a tasting at Couvillion for sub $30 Cabernet as good as anything you taste in Washington.

T Maccarones is passable after Saffron.

Would agree with the comments on Jimgerman, the place offers a nice break from wine and he makes some really high quality cocktails. Plus if you run in to “doc” you will be in for quite a night.

We are planning on being in town for Cayuse release as well and have already made reservations for Whoopemup as everyone I have talked to in W2 and online have said its a must hit.

Darren–that’s odd. They’ve always been very nice to us when we’ve come–sent us a thank you note for being so much fun once, remember us each time we make a reservation. If they get over-whelmed have sent us a free appetizer to tide us over. You weren’t obnoxious, or ate a four hour dinner last time you were there or something?

Nope. Our first visit, a party of four, enjoyed our dinner over about an hour and a half. Shared some nice glasses of wine with Island (the owner) and our waitress. But still felt a little hurried with no one waiting for our seats at the bar.

Second visit, they gave us the time limit as we sat down. They would only open one bottle at a time. We asked them to open/decant and hold the other bottles in the back and they said no. We were an extremely laid back and quiet group. None of us will go back!
