Anyone had any experience with this wine. I’m fond of BS regular rose and have an opportunity to snag some of this and was hoping to get some feedback from those with first hand experience.
I believe we had some of this at the ‘Grower Champagne’ event at my house some months ago. I recall a Cuvee Elisabeth, but can’t recall a vintage or label - Robo brought it over. Nonetheless, the Cuvee Elisabeth that someone brought was a big standout among some fantastic Champagnes…I should look it up on the forum…
This should be fantastic!
Enjoy Mike.
Always a great drink.
I had the 1997 recently that was hard to describe it was so good.
One of my favorite wines in almost every vintage it is made. More elegant than the NV Billecart Rose, but with a lot more complexity. Ages wonderfully.
Hi Mike,
Here’s a note from June of '07- last time I tasted the wine. It is superb.
Best,
John
1998 Billecart-Salmon “Cuvée Elizabeth Salmon” Rosé
I am a huge fan of the Billecart-Salmon Rosés, and this young and lovely Cuvée Elizabeth Salmon is a beauty in the making. The brilliant and utterly refined nose offers up notes of wild strawberries, orange zest, fresh-baked bread, chalky soil tones and a lovely topnote of buttered biscuits. On the palate the wine is fullish, crisp and racy, with brilliant focus, outstanding mid-palate depth, a fine girdle of acidity, refined bubbles, and stunning length and cut on the complex, though still youthful finish. This wine is a joy to drink today, but it is clearly on its way up, and will be even better with another three or four years of bottle age. 2007-2025. 93+.
