I recently purchased a new set of bordeaux vinum glassses and noticed they are much lighter than an older version β 5.4 oz vs 8.3 oz. The weight loss seems to be in the stem and the base. Just wondering if these are more fragile as a result.

I commented on a change a couple of years back, in some thread. The two types of Vinum series glasses I restocked seemed a bit lighter and with perhaps slightly thinner walls from the bunch I bought decades ago. No idea whether they now are more fragile.
I canβt do a comparison, but I have some Riedel Vinum Extreme Cabernet glasses that are about 15 years old and are absolutely the heaviest (by far) that I own. I have some other glasses that are similar in volume which have to be close to half the weight . . . and I am not complaining. Those Vinum extremes are still absolutely fantastic and certainly have proven that they last.
