—and we’re bringing the soul of the Finger Lakes to your glass. At Red Newt Wine Cellars, we’ve been crafting wines that speak to place and passion since 1998. This is your chance to experience our small-lot, terroir-driven wines that are making waves far beyond upstate New York.
Nestled on the eastern shore of Seneca Lake, Red Newt has long been at the forefront of the Finger Lakes wine movement. Our region is a cool-climate gem. Deep glacial lakes and slate-rich soils create the perfect growing conditions for age-worthy Rieslings, vibrant Gewürztraminers, and elegant dry reds.
Whether you’re a longtime Berserker or new to the game, we’ve put together some killer offers on select wines just for VinDependence Day 2025. We’ve included mostly smaller packages of 3 bottles to allow for more flexibility and mixing-and-matching.

2019 Dry Riesling - This wine is showing lovely fruit, backed by an acid backbone that livens up the wine, allowing for great aging. RS: 0.4%
2019 Pinot Gris- Fruit-forward, relaxed, and ready to be sipped on a summer night. A wine that is uncomplicated and joyous for those very occasions. 92 James Suckling RS: 0.4% 12.6%
2021 Gewurztraminer- Fruitier, lighter, friendlier than typical Gewurz. RS: 0.5%
Salamander White - 90% Cayuga White, 10% Riesling. Salamander White was a staple in the Red Newt portfolio for a number of years, but conditions weren’t quite right to produce this wine again until recently, now it’s back and better than ever! Dry and crisp with a supple yet complex structure. It is the perfect accompaniment to a sunny afternoon or a golden sunset. RS: 1.0%
2023 Cabernet Franc - New release, along with the 2023 Merlot. Both sourced from the same vineyard on the east side of Seneca Lake, this wine is full-bodied, with bright cherry and acid throughout. A great example of why Cabernet Franc is king of the reds in the Finger Lakes.
2023 Merlot - Pure and refreshing expression of well grown Merlot in the Finger Lakes. Medium-bodied with dark currants and soft tannins.

2014 Dry Riesling Bullhorn Creek - A textural and spicy dry Riesling that plays off the unique attributes of the long ripening required of Bullhorn Creek. Built to grow over many years in bottle, this delicate style is tribute to classic Finger Lakes Rieslings.
2017 Dry Riesling Tango Oaks- With the vineyard’s Alsatian clone Riesling and extremely gravelly soil, our goal is to continue pursuing the elegance that Tango Oaks Riesling is capable of both young and with appropriate bottle age.
2020 Dry Riesling Glacier Ridge - The Riesling from Glacier Ridge vineyards is our rendition of traditional wine making. Fruit is hand-picked, pressed whole-cluster, and fermented in oak, all using gravity. RS: 0.1% 94 James Suckling

A special two acre block of Riesling at Lahoma Vineyards on the southwest side of Seneca Lake. Planted with Geisenheim 239 Riesling, The Knoll is a sandy knoll of land that rises over the rest of the rolling hills of Lahoma on a unique patch of Dunkirk Silt Loam. This soil type separates The Knoll from the other heavier soils at Lahoma and a rarity in the Finger Lakes.
2017 The Knoll Lahoma Vineyards Dry Riesling - 2017 was the first vintage since 2009 to be notably below average in temperature during the majority of the growing season. A warm and dry harvest with above average sun, a turn in the weather from cool and rainy during the summer, this late sunny pattern allowed for a wonderful harvest stretching well into November!
2018 The Knoll Lahoma Vineyards Dry Riesling - The early winter months of 2018 were marked by relatively mild temperatures. The overall growing season was warmer than average, but the most notable aspect of the vintage was the intense amount of humidity in the region. Maintaining timely sprays and leaf thinning to increase air flow allowed for fruit to remain intact through the high disease pressure vintage.
2019 The Knoll Lahoma Vineyards Dry Riesling - The winter of 2019 was technically average, except for the fact that it seemed to last through May 30th. While the grape vines were not negatively impacted, the late start to the season was a delay that we never quite caught up to. Fortunately, the sun and warmth from Labor Day forward resulted in wonderful flavor ripeness.

The inaugural release from our newest winemaker, Christina Zapel. All crafted with minimal intervention, native yeast fermentation, and maximum attention to detail. All three are sourced entirely from Glacier Ridge Vineyards, on the southeast side of Seneca Lake.
2023 Merlot - Glacier Ridge - 10% Whole Cluster. 90 cases produced. It’s rare to see a Merlot in the Finger Lakes with this much power and structure, a credit to the Glacier Ridge Vineyard. Complex and full-bodied with juicy acidity. Firm structure with black raspberry, savory herbs, and full tannins. It’s rare to see a Merlot in the Finger Lakes with this much power and structure, a credit to the Glacier Ridge Vineyard.
2023 Cabernet Franc - Glacier Ridge - “…A standout Cabernet Franc in the region…” 92 PTs, Billy Norris for Vinous, Feb 2025. 70 cases produced.

2023 Syrah - Glacier Ridge - Classic cool-climate Syrah, only 34 cases produced. Glacier Ridge Vineyard only produces 1 to 1.5 tons per year of Syrah. Rich and deep without being too heavy, we don’t anticipate this wine will be around for very long.
