We’ve got friends coming into town, and they want to get together for a Sunday brunch. Since I don’t usually go out for Sunday brunch, what recs. do you have for a nice place for Sunday brunch on the westside? They’ll be coming up the 405, so decent access from the 405 would be good, and it should be a place that takes reservations. It doesn’t need to be uber fancy though.
Obviously the Hotel Bel Aire is nice, but it IS “uber-expensive”.
How bout Border Grill? Actually that’s only a partial wisecrack as I’ve been there for a brunch and it’s pretty good.
I’m not much of a brunch person, and even if I did get off the couch on a Sunday morn. it would be just a breakfast spot.
Farmshop or Huckleberry might be more along the lines of breakfast. Ditto Meet or Rush Street in C.C., or 26 Beach in Venice.
For true brunch some good spots are Tavern, Joe’s, Cafe del Rey, Fig, maybe One Pico.
Literati Cafe at Wilshire and Bundy is easily accessible from the 405 (restaurant side not the cafe side) or you don’t mind going a little further towards the ocean a favorite of mine is Montana Cafe, at Montana and 16th
Just had brunch a little while ago at Tavern. The lemon ricotta pancakes and brisket hash were excellent, and that back room/patio is very attractive. I did sneak a peak at the wine list, and the pricing did make me “gulp” a little. But it’s a tony part of Brentwood, so I guess it makes sense.
