We are going to be in the Mosel Valley in late spring or early summer 2027 (home based in Piesport). We were planning to drive back to Frankfurt to fly to Newark, however, United just announced they will be adding daily flights between Newark and Luxembourg starting in April.
It makes logistics easier if we fly home out of Luxembourg. Anyone have suggestions for hotels and restaurants? Thank.
Stay in Trier and just get a ride back to LUX.
I’ve stayed at the Sofitel Ducal many times in Lux (bit not in years) it’s fine but nothing exciting. Corporate. Nice views from the bar/resto.
The drive from Piesport to Lux is almost a straight shot once you get on the Autobahn. It’s maybe a 45-50 min drive and the traffic is pretty much always a steady flow. I would just drive the day of. We actually fly into Lux whenever we go back and that’s how we do it, the straight flight I saw yesterday is now icing on the cake.
Keep in mind that this was in 2009, I believe, but spent a couple of days in Lux City. We had an outstanding dinner in a converted brewery, and the name of it escapes me. Great meal with an excellent cheese service and some very nice Lux white wines.
The hotel I stayed in was a converted castle of some sort, our taxi driver took forever to find it (Pre-Waze!). I was awakened in the AM by some God-awful noises that turned out to be a couple of donkeys “having relations”…Can’t recall the name of it - neat place.
I ‘m sorry I’m not of more help, but Lux City is awesome! Lots of R&D in that area!!
