This was just about everything you could ask for from village red burg
Popped this for football today with some charcuterie. Really outstanding after the first hour in glass, rewarding some patience.
Have u tried the 2017 in that one?
I have not, but I very much like the producer and would try!
I see a significant difference between wanting to explore what might be considered the most unique or best if you will (I believe most here share that curiosity and desire), and the inability to see beauty and extraordinary in things that are not “the best”.
Sounds like you don’t have an issue with the latter as a 2M President Peter!
You admire the inability to see beauty and extraordinary in things that are not “the best” (most expensive in many cases)?
It’s not uncommon for people to conflate the knowledge of the difference that comes with experience of the finer things in life with the inability to appreciate the simple things. They are not mutually exclusive.

No dispute at all. Enjoyment of burgundy wines is not as simple as 1,2 and 3. It is the journey which really counts …at the end.

There are many ways to enjoy red Burgundy. For me, the basic keys are : producer; producer and producer.
The 1st producer is : his style - which your prefer. In your above message, it appears that your prefer Fourrier’s style than : Dujac. No harm at all ! Why ? Different stroke for different folks - despite most posters in this board, love Dujac.
The 2nd producer refers to the producer who craft wines in your preferred AC. In this case, is Gevrey in the L-D : Echezeaux ( and not in the AC Echezeaux - which is official a G-Cru. Simply put : it would cost your more, if you are planning to drink a G-cru wine.
The 3rd producer refers to the producer who crafts wines which wold better suite the general character in your preferred vintage year. In this case, Rahit loved to drink the wine from the vintage year : 2019. This issue is harder to settle. You are seeking comments - for the same wine - from the 2017. I am sure you are aware of the general vintage character of 2017 and also 2019.
Would it be more fun, to do and wine event to open the same wine from 2017 and 2019 for a comparative tasting ?
Last night with a chicken I roasted, paired to watch the Chiefs. I only decanted this right before we started drinking as I was stuck on an online chat with Verizon. That was a mistake as it took a full two hours to open up and show all its beauty. Nice wine. Bought on release.
Quality is apparent with complexity both in nose and palate/ length. But firmly in the traditional/ dark fruit spectrum of Burgurdy, true to its Morey roots and producer imprint. V good QPR

Big fan. Crush is selling the Clos Saint Denis 2022 for around $280. Great deal.
Sampling most of these for the first time.
2005 Pavelot - Savigny - La Dominode. More open than I expected especially since the 2002 took forever to open up. Precise enough nose, occasional cherry on the palate which generates some interest. Decent enough house wine. This still has some tannin to be resolved.
2010 Barthod - CM - Charmes - dark berry nose. Fantastic complexity on the palate that has me loving Barthod’s wines more and more.
2005 Boillot - Volnay - Caillerets - floral nose, pretty wine with tertiary flavors. I may have enjoyed this wine more a few years ago when it was more primary.
2005 Pousse d’Or - Volnay - 60 Ouvres - Kaleidoscopic nose, full bodied, deep palate, notes of cough drops. Amazing class & complexity. Never knew a Volnay could reach these heights. Impressive.
Great job Josh! Thanks for the 2005 Pousse d’Or. I got those and I appreciate the note.
.
Don, have u tried that one in the ‘09 or ‘10?
Bought a case of this precisely due to the board raves on Jouan. Would you say the CSD is a meaningful step up from the Sorbes and worth the tariff?
2002 Domaine Bruno Clavelier Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Brûlées Vieilles Vignes
PNP. High-shoulder fill with a substantial amount of caked wine beneath the capsule. Dodgy cork, so the Durand was required. Given the fill and condition of the cork, I was expecting the worst, but this bottle is excellent. Fresh red-fruited berry nose with just a faint suggestion of sous bois. Lively and energetic on the palate, with the characteristic ripeness of 2002, but also terrific purity of fruit and lovely balancing acidity. Beautifully fresh and vibrant, with excellent harmony. Outstanding.
Paul. I have both. Very different wines. The 09 is fleshy and quite lush. The 10 is precise and focused fruit. It has been a while however since I tasted them. This was a frequent buy for me back in the day. I have a ton of aged Volnay now so I don’t buy as much as I used to buy. Wished I still had some of the late 70s to 85 wines from Gerard Potel however. They are my ABSOLUTE favorites.
Thanks. Claveliers in general are so transparent
Any recent updates on 2021 reds? Tried to go back and find @MChang update post in here but I haven’t been able to locate it just yet.
Haven’t opened any recently, but my guess is they’re likely drinking well.
