Rare Spanish Varieties from a New Sonoma Producer - Volta Wines

Hello! This is Ben from from Volta. I’ve been focusing on producing the classic California varieties like Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon for the past 10+ years. 5 years back I decided I was ready to try my own hand at winemaking. I was just trying to make something new and inspiring for myself creatively and decided on the wide world of Spanish Wine.

Now I make Albariño, Alicante Bouschet, Godello, Mencía, Mission, Palomino, and an incredibly unique, aged Rose’ of Mataro. I’m sourcing grapes from all over the Bay Area and focusing on organic grape sources and native fermentations.

I’m obviously hoping to get the word out about my brand but also just looking to become more engaged with the WB community and talk about all aspects of the industry because I’ve seen a lot but certainly not everything.

I got started working in a wine bar when I was 20 back in 2012 and started my career in production in 2015. I’ve worked in cellars, labs, and vineyards for Kosta Browne, Moss Wood, Haynes Vineyard, Trailside Vineyard, and now for myself at Volta

I’m open to discussions about anything really so don’t hesitate to reach out.

Thank you!
-Ben

Do you plan to start offering your wines for online purchase?

Yes, it’s live now. I currently have them all available on my website. I’m also just in the process of setting up a distribution partnership in California and will be getting set up with libdib for distribution to other states soon.
