For me, sauvignon blanc or, preferably, young white Bordeaux. Things going in a vegetal direction, like pea soup would, always seem to partner well with SB.
By that same token, if you wanted a red, probably a Loire cab franc would work, with good acids and some green notes. Or a leaner Bordeaux or South African red that had higher acids and more herbal notes to it.
Who drinks pea soup? I always see those cans on the shelf sitting untouched in grocery stores.
But to answer your question, how 'bout a chenin blanc, sec or demi-sec? Alternatively, a richer pinot gris, a ribolla gialla, furmint, condrieuâŚendless possibilities.

One of the most delicious things Iâve ever eaten was the dish of peas at Guy Savoy. It wasnât split pea soup, but it was these incredibly vivid peas sitting in some kind of reduced essence of peas. 2019 Sandlands Red Table WineâŚYES. The bright tart fruit went well with the veggiesâŚthe floral, earthy mineral notes went well with the smokiness of the ham. Not a perfect match, but better than the first two wines. Btw, these wines were already open before cooking the pea soup, so I wasnât trying to pair them before choosing. Just wanted to see what wines some of you would pick. I might have picked a rose champagne if I had a choice?
