Question for the grape farmers out there

I have a grapevine in my backyard. Nothing special I just grow Concord table grapes and get a few pounds each year. I just walked out and noticed something strange on one of the shoots. There are lots of little growths coming out of the vine as if it was trying to root itself. I have no idea what it’s doing and what I should do about it and figured you guys would’ve seen this before. What’s happening to the Grapevine?

Thx. Now what to do? Likely nothing

Just watch them. If they reach the ground they will root. With grafted vines you dont want that. Not sure if your concord are own rooted in which case it won’t matter.

Normally, they dry up and go away on their own. The vine with them probably suffered some damage from something else and this is a sign but hard to know what or if there is anything you should do.

(Probably will involve a trade with the Raiders)

Aerial roots. A sign of vine stress that can be caused by a number of factors but in my experience it usually means a mechanical or disease injury at or above that point. Typically I prune back to healthy wood.

I have had these on vines with crown gall clearly visible at the graft, so unsure that the issue has to be at or above the point where the root appear.

Crown gall would be one of the disease stress factors that could create aerial roots.
