Most of the day to day casual white wines that I have drunk this summer have been Italian, Spanish and Portuguese (with some Finger Lakes mixed in due to a recent trip). I’m looking for some suggestions for moderately priced ($20-25 per bottle) quality California, Oregon or Washington whites that could supplement or supplant my Euro consumption. Thanks in advance
Ryme Vermentino “Hers”, Ryme Vermentino “His”, Ryme Fiano, Arbe Garbe White Blend, Beau Rivage Chenin Blanc, Massican Vino Bianco, Massican Ribolla Gialla, Massican Annia, and any of the Tablas Creek white varietals. These are all high-acid, largely unoaked whites that form the backbone of my summer consumption…
Keeping to the Berserker theme, Ian Brand’s La Marea Albariño is delicious and his Le P’tit Paysan Chardonnay is pretty good as well. I second the recommendation of Vincent’s whites.
I’m also fond of Folk Machine White Light for an interesting floral white blend.
Calluna Estate Blanc, roughly 75% SB, 25% Semillon. I think it’s $28 on their site, can usually get it on BD or I believe they offer a case discount on their site. It’s our house go to white.
Add anything from Birichino to that list (They are close friends and kindred spirits to Ian Brand). They make a bunch of great whites including their Malvasia Bianca which is well south of $20. Absolutely delicious. Ian Brand also makes a Melon de Bourgona.
Vincent vine company Whites.
Goodfellow WV Chardonnay, Cameron WV Chardonnay, Goodfellow Whistling Ridge Blanc all of these are automatic case buys.
Ser Winery - Vermentino, Riesling, & most importantly Dry Orange Muscat
Navarro! Consistently excellent sub $20 whites, especially in their mixed case deals with free shipping. Really the first name I think of for “california value”
