Looks like there hasn’t been an update to Puerto Vallarta Restaurants in a while. We took a few days in early November 2023 and went to these places:
-
River Cafe: Still an oldie but a goodie with some recent renovation. Solid traditional Mexican food and quite good across the board. The table particularly liked the fajitas. Not much of a wine list, but we certainly made a dent in the margaritas. https://rivercafe.com.mx/

Tre Piatti: Our favorite meal and new to me. Small, upscale Italian restaurant with some pretty terrific pasta dishes. Among our favorites of the evening were: Sausage Panzerotti (a lighter more elegant version of a calzone) Pappardelle Ragu, Raviolo, seared tuna with couscous and olive tapenade. The basic wine list is just that - basic, but after a consultation with the waiter, another, completely different wine list magically appeared with some great stuff on it, which of course we ordered. We had a great time here and got a little loaded (on food and wine). This is more of an upscale restaurant - didn’t seem to be kid friendly. Tre Piatti Best Italian Restaurant Puerto Vallarta

Barcelona: Another oldie but goodie. No more steps to the top! They’ve put in an elevator and updated the 4th and 5th floors. The view is still incredible and the night we went they had a live guitarist. Among the standouts: patatas alioli (truly light and excellent) Jamon Serrano, tortilla Espanola, octopus, eggplant and pork tenderloin. The wine list is mostly Mexico and Argentina with a few dots of California and French name brands. Very family friendly and tasty with an incredible view. Garbos: Some late night “cocktailing” with excellent live music, good, stiff drinks and old school vibe. It was nice to go here and get away from people like me (tourists). Garbo Bar Vallarta | Facebook

El Panorama: Yes - this place is STILL here. I wish I could say the meal was terrific, but it wasn’t. We ordered table side Caesar Salad and filet Mignon and table side strawberry “conchas chinas”. The beef and strawberries were great, but the service, wine list, ambiance are all a shadow of its former self. We were hoping for more, but glad we gave it a go one more time. https://panoramarestaurant.mx/
