This is the second year of Big West Wine Fest. We went last year not knowing what to expect. Turns out it was the most eclectic, fun and informative wine tasting we have ever been to. No tasting in some sterile warehouse somewhere, no BWWF happens in the middle of 200 ft. Redwood trees in Western Sonoma County!
Obviously last year was a huge success as it is going from one day and about 40 wineries to this year it’s two days and over 80 wineries! Some of my favorites are here and as well as others often mentioned on WB. Almost all the producers there have wines that are fresh, vibrant and show little to no oak. The best part of BWWF is you have the chance to “discover” a bunch of wineries that may very well become your favorites in the future.
Here are some of the producers at this years BWWF: Bedrock Wine Co, Broc Cellars, Desire Lines, Extradimensional Wine Co. Yeah!, Jolie Laide, Pax Wines, Ruth Lewandowski, Idlewild Wines*, Jupiter Wine Co.*, Martha Stoumen, Matthiasson, Rootdown, RYME and many many more.
Plenty of food vendors are there as well as some music to liven things up.
The cost did go up this year but only because last year was ridiculously cheap. Still very reasonable for what you get. This Wine Fest is perfect for a visit from anywhere in the Bay Area. Wife and I will be there both days visiting old friends (wineries) and Making new friends (wineries)
No affiliation with BWWF but our son does work for Idlewild* and his own brand is Jupiter Wine Co*
