Produttori Barbaresco Reservas 2009

I heard the other day from a local merchant that there has been very strong demand from Asia for the 2009 Produttori Reservas. To the point where it affected existing allocations. Has anyone ran into anything like this as well?
I’m wondering how much fact there is to this story and whether I should worry about prices going up and stock up …?
Thanks.

I don’t recall exact figures but while chatting with Aldo Vacca last year the situation did come up and while there is some moderately significant percentage of wine being allocated to Asia, I recall that Aldo said that he wasn’t really going to play with the allocations for the US, their most important market.

I think your local merchant is trying to motivate a buyer…

I see 2009s all over the place… don’t think there’s a supply issue at all in the US.

Sorry, didn’t mean stock up on the 2009s.
Meant stock up going forward, as the 2009s are obviously already readily available.
Thanks.

I’ve purchased numerous bottles this year, definetly no shortage. I hope it doesn’t become a problem in the future but I should probably backfill anyways.

“Demand is rising in Asia” just rings in my ears like “all the other children at school have chocolate for breakfast” - even if it might be true, I don’t think I should be changing my behavior as a result…

There are much smaller quantities of some 2009 Riservas compared to most years:

I would be surprised by this since these don’t have the cachet of, say, a Giacosa. Moreover, the coop has skipped bottling the crus in several vintages because they had too much inventory in the pipeline.
