To those who have not yet experienced this yet, there is no way online to turn off the auto renewal of your P.P. membership. You have to jump through hoops to cancel. After sending three emails to them asking to stop the auto renew, I finally called them (HQ in the UK). They have a 24 hr customer service line. After being put on hold for 5-7 minutes they were finally able to confirm my membership would be cancelled.
I’m cancelling because it just wasn’t worth the money. I signed up last year as we were planning trips to Greece and Puerto Rico (and a few other domestic trips) and where the P.P. lounge seemed the only viable way to access a lounge for the airline and/or airports I was using. The big issue was the time restrictions on some airports if you did not have some airline or credit card-affiliated upper tier status. And the lounge in Puerto Rico was a total disappointment.
We used one in Rome flaying back early this month, not impressed. Did not help the guy next to me was rubbing is bare feet. We left and went to the lounge for Lufthansa
I get a priority pass membership as a benefit of my credit card. It’s fine. But there are no lounges in the US. Just abroad and I really only travel abroad about once a year (if that). Recently used it in Capetown and found it to be nice. Nothing special, but certainly better than sitting at the gate.
Not that this is a common usage pattern, but it really came in handy when my kids did sememsters abroad and were travelling all around Europe. They used the lounges all the time and were able to get a bunch of their friends in as well as guests.
