We are visiting Priorat / Girona this week with a group of 7 friends… Some restaurants and wineries have already been selected
There is still space in the program for one more winery, one more restaurant… and something fun to do on sunday in Girona or Barcelona (Truffles or mushroom hunting?..)
Which one would you recommend?
Winery visits planned:
- Clos Erasmus
- Nit de Nin
- Clos Mogador
- Scala Dei
- Ferrer Bobet
(Already did Terroir al limit and Mas Doix last year…)
Restaurants planned
- El Celler de L’Aspic (Dinner)
- Cal Llop (light dinner)
- Cellar Can Rocca (Dinner)
- Celler de Grattallops (lunch)
- La Cooperative - Porrera (lunch)
Consider visiting Siurana. Mind blowing beautiful. The views of Montserrat are incomparable. Like a mini grand canyon.
Have you considered Celler Vall Llach in Porrera? Albert Costa the proprietor is a great young guy, and the historic cellar in the center of town is lovely to visit. Also he’s changed the style of their wines recently to one that’s much more restrained and traditional, a shift I enthusiastically support.
Full disclosure – we work with Vall Llach on direct-to-consumer sales in the U.S.
Thanks Kelly! I reserved a lunch at “Refugi Ciriac” which seems to have a breathtaking terrace view
Hi Kevin, Vall Llach seems to be closed on saturday… we will try to visit them next time…
Recommend a visit to a small pretty town called. Besalú. Look it up to see whether it interests you. Great museum of miniatures as well.
Wow! You guys have a great list. I just returned from a visit to Spain which took me north to San Sebastián and down to Priorat / Montsant. Scala Dei and Mogador were definitively highlights but if you have the time, do consider Burgos Porta. Salvador Burgos is terribly enthusiastic and passionate about his winemaking and he does a wonderful tasting. Very lovely and rustic wines in the Priorat style - if you can find him.
We spent a good bit of time in Falset as well, and went to Celler de l’Aspic twice. I would have gone again except he’s closed on Sundays. Simply tremendous wine list and the food is lovely as well. Some of the best jamon I’ve ever had.
Most of Barcelona is closed on Sunday so I probably wouldn’t drive that way - stick around Falset and wander locally. Have a great trip!
