Anyone have recommendations for dining in Prague? Asking for a friend. Thanks in advance!
Didn’t get out much to absorb the dining scene in 2019, but the most memorable meal for me was at Vinograf. A cool wine bar with good and delicious meal-size dishes that went well with the very deep btg and btb local (and including other European) wine list.
The local jazz scene was tops, in case there’s interest.
It’s in an odd spot but I had a great meal at Atelier Red and White last summer- great wines including a lot BTG nice back patio as well
Cheese
Seared foie gras
Fish en papillote
Wines to match
Very reasonably priced
A few years ago, but some of our highlights:
Dinners
Ristorante Divinis - Italian, nice wine list
La Degustation - multi course with wine and juice pairings. Get a table close to the kitchen
Grand Cru - French dishes, great wine list, don’t miss the chocolate “egg” for dessert
Breakfasts
Cathedral Cafe - quaint with wintergarden, excellent hot chocolate
Cafe Imperial - old school, historic cafe with traditional dishes
Cafe Savoy - busy breakfast place with lots of locals - lots of options, fresh juices, desserts, and pastries
Snacks
Cafe Milani along the river for cakes and hot drinks
We loved the Mucha exhibit - don’t miss
I have a business lunch or dinner to schedule in Prague and my customer is Vegan. I’m checking with some of the suggestions already mentioned but figured I’d check in on this thread if anyone has recommendations ?
In general, go for Italian food in Prague. Much better than Czech food which is brown food in a brown sauce. Also easier to find vegetarian food (as for vegan, need to check). Ask for something light in a Czech restaurant and you get fried cheese. I did hear of a French restaurant with a great wine list, but didn’t go (likely it was Grand Cru mentioned by Lori).
Specifically, I can second Divinis. Check the menu for vegan options.
Also, Cotto Crudo (in the Four Seasons) - pricey but correct. Likely to accommodate vegans (but check the menu or call).
La Finestra de Cucina is another very good Italian restaurant.
A specific vegetarian restaurant with vegan options - Lehka Hlava. But very, very simple and casual, might not be suitable for a business setting. Plenty of vegan options, food was tasty.
Thanks Barry, this is very helpful.
We ended up at Grand Cru and it was outstanding. We were all impressed with the food, service and wine. The list is impressive. Ended up with 2017 Gevry from Domaine Duroche. It drank very well and was an excellent value. Will check out Divinis if I make it back.
For the board’s future reference in case anybody is looking for additional ideas, we were there last Spring. I’d highly recommend both Kampa Park, and Mylnec. Kampa Park has a very nice setting right on the river. Actually, Mylnec sorta does too but not necessarily a focal point; little more modern in styling than Kampa. Good food at both.
