I was in Total Wine this past weekend and had enough in the cart that they asked if I’d like a wine box to take everything home in, to which I replied, “sure.” It was only when I got home that I saw that “wine” it was. I’m sure it was super yummy! NOT. What are your worst boxes you’ve been forced to walk away with?
As I use them for overflow storage, I’m not too picky about them as long as they are intact and have dividers, and I’ve had them all. Several Buttercream boxes from TWM, Meiomi, Josh, Stella Rosa, a Missouri peach-flavored wine beverage, etc. Can’t say I’ve ever had a White Malbec box, though, or ever realized that anyone was making it.
I probably have the whole hall of shame! Had to move space within the same storage facility and took whatever I could get from a friendly neighborhood wine store…
Really funny OP. I have a decent number of boxes in use at home for wine storage like that. I think I have a sixer of 2016 Montrose in a peanut butter whiskey box.
The Total Wine order I picked up the other day was in a Casamigos box, which isn’t that bad, but I don’t want my neighbors thinking I love it so much that I buy it by the case. (I actually am not sure I’ve ever even had Casamigos…)
I have specifically kept a Charles Shaw box from my original start with professional cellar storage. It’s bin #1 and will be as long as I can keep it together. I try to always put it in the bottom far corner holding bottles that need many more years on their sides.
What a funny thread - I had the opposite occur, I picked up some inexpensive daily drinker wines from Rain City packed in an Aldo Conterno box. I saved the box (obviously) and ended up fooling clients into thinking I was a baller Barolo collector when they came into my lab.
