Tonight after our lunch at Maria’s, we decided to have have a little something while watching TV. We had a variety of dry sausages with mozzarella and meat rolls and green and black olive pastes. Accompanying wine was a 1996 Ridge Mazzoni Home Ranch - 65% Zin, 23% Carignane, 12% Petite Sirah; dark garnet in color; ripe, earthy dark fruit in nose and flavors; rich mid-palate with ripe fruit and light acidity; and a medium long earthy fruit finish. All was enjoyable while watching the end of the Westminster Dog Show and Bones (via TiVo). Then it was off to bed.
Nice! I love dinners like that. Once a week or so, we pick up a baguette, pull some cheeses and olives out of the fridge, munch on marcona almonds, and open a nice bottle of wine. The only thing missing is the dogs.
We have a cat, who’s about 16 months old. He’s around us all the time.
