I’m going to be in Portland on Thursday June 9. Can you recommend a wine bar or tasting room in the downtown area. I’m arriving on Amtrak at 3:30, and have dinner plans at 7:00. My last trip ( 5 years ago) took me to Voodoo Donuts. This time I’m headed to Blue Star on 13th and Washington. I’m free between 4:30 - 6:30. Anyone care to join me?
Not far from there if you want a 2nd place is littlebirdbistro.com who pours many a board member’s wine.
Are you doing Blue Star right off the train? If so I’d hit http://www.shiftdrinkspdx.com right there (not a ton of Oregon options though).
If you want to head straight toward Laurelhurst, http://www.barvivant.com annually wins multiple awards for their Champagne and Sherry selection but again, light on the Oregon options. You could walk from there to LM. Tell Benny hi for me!
Also on the eastside and probably the best Oregon list, especially btg is pourwinebar.com I’d meet you. It’s a quick hop to LM from there.
It’s the wrong direction by 20 blocks but my Happy Hour go to is http://www.stjackpdx.com . They have a stellar btg list leaning heavily French but lots of Oregon options too. I could meet you there as well, I drive by every day.
Division Wines on SE Division has a new tasting bar now. Had a great time there with my daughter couple of weeks ago. Nice pours, variety of wines. Bought a Bandol rose and a Turley!
I know it isn’t downtown, but a mention for anyone in the SE area.
There are plenty of great wine/wine bar options in PDX. The link below is for PDX wineries. SE Collective and about a dozen others are included here. All have something interesting to share. http://pdxurbanwineries.com/
A couple of our favorite wine bars inlcude:
Oregon Wines on Broadway & Ambonnay
If you’re into Zins, come check out our place in the close in SE, Urban Crush.
Cheers, Ed
