Porcini Fettucine w/ Porcini-Parmesan Cream Sauce & Brunello

Tonight’s early dinner was Rustichella di Abruzzo Porcini Fettucine topped with a rich porcini-parmagiano-cream sauce. It was accompanied by a rich 1995 Poggio Antico Brunello di Montalcino - dark ruby-garnet in color with a very thin light edge; rich nose and flavors of spicy red and dark cherries, with hints of earth; bright mid-palate of spicy dark fruit (to go with the rich porcinis) and good acidity (to cut through the cheese and cream); initially a bit tannic on the finish, but lessening with the rich sauce; after a few bites of pasta, the wine had a long spicy dark fruit finish. A nice meal on an evening of threatening rains, but never quite happening.

Then for dessert we had Piroulines - vanilla, chocolate hazelnut, and dark chocolate, with the end of the old - 1984 Quady Essencia; while watching various TiVo’d programs.
