I have Riedel, Spiegelau and Schott Zweisel. I have a lot more Riedels than anything else (overture reds, Vinum Bordeaux and Burgundy, stemless Bordeaux and Burgundy, and a few assorted other Vinum glasses). Use their basic Overture a lot with riesling, so it likely is my most used glass. Use the Spiegelau (Burg and Bordeaux) when I need more glasses than I have Riedels Vinum Bordeaux or Burgundy glasses. Use the Schott Zweisels for my everyday Burgs. Like them because they are less fragile than the others. So, I use my Riedel Overtures the most, use my Schott Zweisels the most for pinots, use the Riedles when we have company over and use everything when we have bigger crowds.
Putting all this together I voted Riedel but part of me wanted to vote Schott Zweisels.
We use Spiegelau Authentis Burgundy, White, and Champagne glasses for daily drinking. We also have a few pairs of various Riedel Somms that see less frequent use.
We are currently using waterford but plan on buying zaltos this year. Im waiting to see if i can pick them up at an after Christmas sale. We recently did a tasting using reidel (vitis), zalto (universal) and my waterford (lismore essence). Liked the zaltos best.
We have, and use, a variety as well, including: Luigi Bormioli Atelier Cabernet/Merlot, now relabeled, I think, “Prestige” (it’s their Son.hx glass line); Schott Zweisel Tritan Full-Bodied Red; Riedel Vinium Bordeaux; and Zalto, where we have both the Universal (which we’ve never actually used since we rarely drink white) and the Bordeaux.
We’ve also had, but no longer use, many others, including the sometimes-reccomended-here Hip line from Crate and Barrel, which we found way too breakable.
Day to day, we use the Bormiolis and SZs, which are almost identical in shape and thickness, interchangeably, but since we have more Bormiolis, I choose that answer in the poll. Zaltos are beautiful, but still feel like “special occasion” glasses, based on their price per stem, and I prefer the Bormiolis and SZs to the Riedels, so we rarely reach for the latter.
