Platt Vineyards Release Any Notes

Anyone try these?

Dear Steve,

We are delighted to share the date of our 2025 Inaugural Release, launching at 10:00 AM Pacific Time on Tuesday, September 16th .

Wines will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, so we encourage you to secure your selections promptly on release day.

Perched on the windswept West Sonoma Coast, Platt Vineyard is a 43-acre jewel rooted in ancient Goldridge soils, dedicated to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. For more than twenty years, Platt fruit has gone into some of the Coast’s most sought-after wines. Now, for the very first time, we are thrilled to share Estate bottlings under our own label.

These wines reflect both the purity of the coast and the depth of character that make this vineyard truly world-class—and we can’t wait for you to experience them.
THE OFFERING
“California does not have a formal system for ranking vineyards. If it did, there is no question Platt would be a Grand Cru.”

— Antonio Galloni
2023 Platt Vineyard Estate Reserve Chardonnay - $145

2023 Platt Vineyard Estate Reserve Pinot Noir - $145

2023 Platt Vineyard Estate Chardonnay - $68

2023 Platt Vineyard Estate Pinot Noir - $68

I received as well…don’t recall signing up.

They used the outpost mailing list. There’s more info in the other thread “Platt Vineyard Sold to Millesimes”

The pricing strategy is interesting. The “entry level” is competitive with other high end wineries base level offerings (Occidental, Littorai, Dumol, etc) but is still all estate fruit (and looks like good initial critic reviews). The reserve on the other hand is priced higher than any of those by $20 (even more for the chardonnay).

I’m usually not one for scores, but as this is a brand new winery, I’m looking for any information. I don’t subscribe to any paid reviews. I finally found this:

AXA owns both wineries.

The pricing on these feels really high to me. I know the press is strong, but there is a lot of really established, high quality wines available for a lot less.

I’m out at this price level, crazy to kick off a new brand with pricing this aggressive at this time.

Yeah, look what they did to Outpost, which I dropped like a rock.

Is TRB the winemaker?

To each his own on pricing but IIRC Ferren was similar out of the gates. Allen Vineyard was slightly more and this is being sold at a discount to RM Platt Vineyard wines. Not saying I’m a buyer but pricing seems fair for the pedigree.

Tom

I would disagree. Allen vineyard isnt doing a reserve and 2nd wine. They are potentially using all there best grapes for their wine at 75, not 145. Does RM source their chard and pinot from the “reserve blocks”? If so they are charging 75, not 145.

What Ferren wine was $145?

None of them. I was referring to their Sonoma Coast appellation wine from Ferren which was around $65 and I am comparing it to the less expensive Platt wine (not the reserve). Make sense?

Hmm…I bet I know one winery you are thinking of!

That’s one example though.

You don’t think the Reserve wines are really out of line here?

Of course and I won’t buy the reserve wines but I am intrigued by the rest of the release. Platt Vineyard + TRB at $68 seems reasonable to me.

Allen has a long track record. Allen grapes went to Rochioli and William Selyem They chose to keep some grapes for themselves. Their daughter and her husband, both winemakers, are using Allen grapes to make an amazing Pinot… Great nose I could sniff for hours, some
how both full body and elegant. $70 per not $145. Get on this mailing list.

It would be beneficial if someone had tasted these wines to get a sense of their style

That’s another thing. I’m very apprehensive about buying wines of this price without knowing what it tastes like.
