Count me in. I’ll bring some single vineyard Mayacamas Chardonnay I just picked up.
Excellent!
Reservation is set for 6:15 PM for 8 ppl at Cornerstone Restaurant. Reservation is under Michael Chang.
@Tom_G_l_a_s_g_o_w @MikeV any update on wines? I put mine in the first post.
Thinking these, let me know what you think! I don’t have much with age, mostly 16 and younger.
2010 Leoville Poyferre
2016 Montrose
2016 Figeac
2019 Figeac
I personally think the two Figeac to compare with each other would be really interesting! I think the 16 Montrose is way too young to open, but I do think doing a side by side of the two Figeac would be wonderful; I would probably double decant them for about 2-3 hours if possible though!
Probably right on the Montrose. I’ll find a good sub for it. See you soon!
If you’re going to bring 16-19 left bank Palmer would be a good one.
Excited to see everyone Saturday!
@Tom_G_l_a_s_g_o_w any update on wines?
Bel Air Marquis d’ Aligre 2000 or 2009
Vilmart Emotion 2014
N Bachelet CdN 2019
N Bachelet Rouge 2009
LdH rosado 2010
Henri Gouges NsG Porrets 2008
Also have a 1996 BAMA.
Do we need to bring glasses?
I would bring stems, theirs are fine but nothing special, we ended up using a mix of ours and their stems last time.
I think the LDH rose would be cool, and maybe the rose champagne to go with it? I think Mike is bringing a bunch of bdx and I’m bringing a couple burgs but no rose (or sweet wines), maybe I’ll bring a 375 of Yquem.
Well unfortunately I won’t be bringing the Mayacamas Chardonnay anymore with American Airlines losing the checked bag I had it in. Instead I was thinking of bringing the following:
Dr. Frank 2020 Blanc De Blanc
HJ Wiemer 2022 Magdalena Riesling
JJ Prum 2020 Wehlener Sonnenuhr
Can’t go wrong with more bubbles and I think the finger lakes are killing it right now with their Riesling which we can compare to the classic Mosel. Let me know your guys thoughts though. I can always pivot.
Sure sounds good!
Excited to see everyone in a couple hours.
Reservation is set for 615 pm at Cornerstone Restaurant in Aspinwall under Michael Chang, see you all there! We’ll probably be a few minutes early to set up. I’d recommend bringing stems!
Post notes!!
2012 Dom Perignon
Lemon zest, brioche, amazing palate, drinking phenomenally
2013 Dom Perignon
A bit tight and disjointed initially, integrated after some time but still a bit awkward.
2013 Cristal
Drinking phenomenally as always. Meyer lemon and toasted brioche on the nose, lovely lemon on the palate, super long finish.
2014 Vilmart Emotion
Phenomenal wine, lovely strawberry and cherry fruits. Super acidity and palate presence, long finish.
2010 Lopez de Heredia Rosado
Needs much more time. A bit four square and not particular interesting.
2012 Lignier Clos de La Roche
Took a couple hours to open up but eventually blossomed. Sous bois, black currants, and some cherry fruit on the nose, lovely fruits and acidity on the palate, lovely finish.
2012 Hudelot Noellat Romanee St Vivant
Crazy aromatics with plums and forest floor. Palate was generous and lovely. amazing finish.
2020 JJ Prum Wehlner Sonnehuer
Clean, pure fruits, drank well.
2022 Hermann Weimer Riesling
Very dry, well balanced, held up to the prum.
2010 Leoville Poyferre
Barnyard, funk, lovely fruits, great wine.
2014 Cos de Estournel
Complete Bordeaux with beautiful dark fruits, crisp acidity, and lots of complexity. Well integrated palate and superb finish.
2016 Figeac
Took awhile to open up but blossomed into a beautiful wine with fantastic fruit and acidity.
2019 Figeac
Very accessible with lovely fruits and balanced acidity, Superb.
2019 Yquem
I was concerned this would be too young but those worries were unnecessary. Overripe pineapple, passion fruit, and guava on the nose. More lovely exotic fruits on the palate with balanced acidity. Super long finish.
Nice assortment.
Emotion is a good wine.
those wiemer single vineyards can compare quite favorably to gg wines in my experience. the magdalena is fantastic.
