Perrot Minot?

Just had a bottle of 2006 Bourgogne (Morey St Denis) last night.
Ordered off a restaurant list.
Wine was delightful, and surprisingly good for the level…nice balance of fruits and minerals, excellent weight.
…but I never heard of this producer.

Any info or opinion about Perrot Minot??
Track record? Price point/value?

Very low yields, often overoaked and overextracted in the past; not to mention appalling qpr. However, the domaine seems to have toned down the new oak and adopted a policy towards more balanced wines. These days, I’ll drink it if someone else is buying.

When Christophe took over the winemaking in 1993, things started to go flashy.

I think he has throttled back on oak since 2002. I’m not really current with the wines these days.

Beware of some of those good vintages from 1996-2002 if you’re not fond of the oaky style.

Not my cup of tea. Very expensive for what they are. Not for the traditionalist.

Loads of good ratings though, even a few from Dr. Meadows.

I’ve had two '04s from Perrot Minot (Perrieres and Combe D’ORveaux), so not a huge data point.
I’m also sitting on an '06 Mazoyeres that I was gifted…
But…what the others have said…not cheap, and seemed quite modern to me…I didn’t dislike per se, but I got them on the cheap and would be a helluva lot less enamored had I paid asking price…wouldn’t really search them out again…

Good to know.
Going by the bottle we had last night, I may have bought some villages or 1cru.
Surprising given what I tasted… pileon

Very good producer, one of the best 3 or 4 in Morey-St-Denis … now young Christophe P-M is in charge …
was very heavy with oak in the mid to late nineties, but has lightened the treatment a bit …
very good concentration, really intense wines.
Since several years also a negociant line with very fine vineyards in Gevrey etc …

Recommended !

Indeed, quite expensive. He has a good reputation however.

Trust YOUR palate. [wink.gif]

Always.
But I was just trying to get a sense of his wines above Bourgogne level…
Also trying to navigate around the minefield… [tease.gif] [berserker.gif]

Oh, that’s right. It’s all crap, why are we even bothering talking about Burgundy neener

I like them better in non-ripe years when they have less rope to hang themselves with.

QPR is a disaster.

I have a bottle of 1999 La Riotte VV on tap for tonight. Tanzer seemed to like it, and I hope I do.

I have had a few vintages of the Combe d’Orveau and Champs Perdrix and haven’t noticed any meaningful improvement in the oak treatment. It is a tragedy what they do to these wines considering the terroirs they have.
