PDX Off-line - August 28 or After Labor Day?

Anyone interested in getting together between March 9 and March 20 for an off-line? I can host at PWS. Open to different themes or a random flight. Hit me up if interested.

I am just seeing this. I am interested in an Off-line in the future.

Hi Jeremy. Thanks for your message. I’m working overseas now but will be moving back to PDX in early July. I’d love to get together for a tasting(s) once I’m relocated. I store commercially at PWS and they have a nice common room for putting on tastings. Are you located in PDX? What are you into?

We might be interested in meeting some new Portland winos depending on the date.

Great, let’s connect when I’m home this summer. I’ll message you. Cheers, Emery

Hi Emery & Marshall,

I also store at PWS, lets put a tasting together when you are here. My locker is heavy with California Cabs, Syrah, Chardonnay & Pinots, but I have server other types in my locker that I am open to tasting.

Cheers

Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,
Sounds good. My collection is fairly diverse, leaning toward Old World, but heavy on Oregon Pinot too. Would love to explore CA wines. I should be back in PDX in mid-June. Will message out when I’m home. Cheers, Emery

Let me know if you are doing anything in PDX. I am down in Lafayette in the WV, work at a winery (Balsall Creek), and also have a 900+ bottle cellar. I would love to do some berserker events.

Hi Monte,
Good to hear of your interest! My cellar sits around 1,250 (heavy on OR PN, France and Italy). I’ll reach out to you and others once I return to the U.S. (now looking around July 1) to put together a Beserker event in PDX (probably at Portland Wine Storage).
Cheers,
Emery

Hi Emery and others- I am also interested in getting together for tastings. My 500 bottle collection leans heavily towards WV chardonnays and PN, and Bordeaux. But also interested in many other wines!

Hi Brian,
Great to hear you’re interested in a get together! I can imagine some awesome themes emerging, given the breath of wines folks seem to hold. Looking forward to it!

Greetings,
Some have expressed interest in an off-line in Portland. (See below.) I’m setttled in from returning overseas and ready to pull some corks! I can host the gathering at Portland Wine Storage. We can have a theme or just wing it and see what the flight turns out to be. I think some parameters would be good. Dates? August 27 works on my end, or better to hold off until after Labor Day? Let me know.

That’s great Emery. I’m looking forward to joining this. Unfortunately, August 27 does not work for me. And, I am doing a lot of traveling in September. I am only available in September on 9/1, 9/2, 9/4, 9/5, and 9/12-9/18. Hate to miss this, but I understand if the dates I am away work better for others. I agree that parameters on the wines to bring would be good.

Emery,

Great to connect and start the process of getting an initial event started.

August 27 unfortunately doesn’t work for me as our winery is hosting the Chehalem Mountain Wineries Fall meeting that evening. We will be pouring our Balsall Creek wines in addition to a bottle share from all of the 40+ wineries.

I love the idea of some parameters on what we taste. We had a group in Houston when I lived there and it was fun having a focus. There were some people with amazing cellars so a “favorite white wine” or “most unusual” pulled some real memorable gems.

One suggestion would be to start with something simple for the initial one - Oregon Pinot or Pinot in general - so we can learn about each other, our preferences, and our cellars. From that we could gauge interest in future events and themes. I would love to be able to host one at our winery in the future.

I’m still interested, but we are gone from 9/5-9/21 and have a number of things already planned for late August, so it would be best later in September. Or we can just attend the next one, whatever works best for everyone.

I’m in, Wednesdays & Thursday are good for me. 8/27, 9/4 & 9/10 works. I do have some travel scheduled for September, but I can provide more dates if needed. I also have a locker at Portland Wine Storage and I have know several other locker holders that might be interested in joining us.

I have a California heavy cellar with a few cases from other. Pinot is good for me (Oregon, Cali, France, Tasmania), but I am happy to be flexible for a theme.
It’s my preference to try to bring wine from a predefined value and up.

Cheers

Jeremy

Great to see this coming together. Let’s meet on Thursday, 9/4. Not sure if Marshall can make it, but if not, then next time.
Per Monte’s suggestion, why don’t we start with Oregon Pinot Noir (we’re in Oregon, after all). I agree with Jeremy, that we bring a wine with a pre-defined value and up. Shall we say $50 or more per bottle? Or is that a bit low? I welcome any thoughts.

I’m in! I think $50 and up is reasonable for good Oregon Pinot Noir. How about vintage? Recent, or with some age? Personally, I am much more limited on PN’s older than 2021. What time should we meet?

I think $50 and above is good. Shall we keep it open as to vintage or do a 2021 check in/horizontal? I’m heavy on '21’s, but have older vintages too. Is 6:00 pm too early to meet?

Works for me.
