I need to buy more wine this year like I need to…
However, here we are with some compelling wines at Napa reasonable pricing and $20 flat ground shipping.
Patria V.2019 Oakville Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon
Reminiscent of the powerful 2013s with explosive aromatics of blackberry, black licorice, Herbes de Provence and raspberry cordial followed by flavors of roasted plums, pipe tobacco, black currants and cocoa nibs. Dense and with a long life ahead, if cracking within the next year, give it an hour decant before serving. (95-98 Antonio Galloni, 94-96 Lisa Perrotti-Brown)
Cépage: 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot
$100
Patria V.2019 Avoyelles Oakville Red Wine
Powerful aromas of violets, lilac and rosehips are followed by secondary aromas of herbs, black olive, cedar box, and classic Oakville east iron filings. Wonderful natural acidity balances flavors of blackberry pots de crème, fresh raspberry, soy, pipe tobacco and cedar. Tannins are lush but finish with a bit of dust. Deserves a decant if opening soon, and will easily last 10-15 years. (95-97 Antonio Galloni, 95-97 Lisa Perrotti-Brown)
Cépage: 55% Cabernet Franc, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot
$150
Patria V.2019 A. Price Cabernet Sauvignon
Tell-tale aromas of warm blackberry pie filling, followed with aromas of menthol, chocolate and wonderful savory herbs - all classic aromas of the heritage clone 7 cabernet. Flavors of soy, dark chocolate, lavender and cinnamon stick. Tannins are rich and long but with a li’l tannin dust that portends a long life ahead. (97-99 Antonio Galloni, 93-95 Lisa Perrotti-Brown)
Cépage: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon
$110
I really like the Avoyelles, but am tempted to take a mixed 6. The quality is there across the portfolio for the price imo. No 2020 reds, but a chardonnay is forthcoming.
