I just learned of Medrano’s senseless killing last month. I met him on a tour of La Vista Vineyard last spring. So sad. La Vista’s owner, Ken Riding, made it clear that Alvaro’s vineyard expertise was key to their success. Those of us who have enjoyed Nicora, Ranchero Cellars and other labels can testify to his talent.
