Looking for suggestions, there is not much we do not like. Excellent wine list or low corkage would be preferred, but not mandatory.

I’ve enjoyed McPhee’s Grill in Templeton. I have not been to Bistro Laurent but they are supposed to be quite good. I’m sure that many others that frequent that area, or live there, will chime in…Gary
I haven’t eaten at a ton of places up there, but McPhees is certainly good, and I’ve enjoyed a great dinner at Thomas Hill Organics as well. I’ve heard good things about several other Paso restaurants from friends who eat out more often than I…Artisan, Bistro Laurent, Il Cortile, and Villa Creek all get mentioned regularly.
We had lunch at a new place in Paso called Robert’s. Really good food, long winelist.
Artisan and Bistro Laurent are both excellent. Bistro has a very reasonable wine pairing dinner as well.
Artisan!! I could hop a plane to California just now for a meal at Artisan - charming people, great locally sourced food. Amazing.
Thank you for the suggestions.

We were able to have dinner at Thomas Hill Organics and Artisan. Both offered exceptional meals with solid service and wine selection. Thomas Hill gets a slight advantage just from the fact that we had an wonderful table on the patio and the weather was spectacular by Chicago standards.

In order of preference:
Bistro Laurent
Artisan
Villa Creek
Haven’t been to Thomas Hill, so no negative reflection by their lack of inclusion.
The cafe sounds like Berry Hill Bistro.

I just went on Google Maps and did a street view. The location is either the Berry Hill Bistro location, or next door at The Kit pub and Grill. that said, neither of those names rings a bell (and the last time I was there was a few years ago, so I think the place I was thinking of may have gone belly-up).
I also forgot to mention one other place that has been recommended to me by a few different people, but that I still have yet to patronize: Buono Tavola (supposed to be very good Italian food).
Chiming in late, but I’m glad Thomas Hill Organics was a good experience for you. It is a pretty nice patio.
And Brian, something tells me it might be Berry Hill Bistro. My wife and I had a nice dinner there a few years back. The SLO Buona Tavola location is pretty solid…never been to the Paso one.
