Our 20th Vintage Has Arrived | Kutch 2024 Release

I thought I would drop a message here as a “heads up” as I never sent out a “save the date” last week.

Tomorrow, Tuesday 01/19/2026 I plan to release our first of two offerings we do each year.

Here it is below for those who have asked:

It is hard to believe that twenty years have passed since our first vintage rolled across the sorting table. Looking back, what stands out most is how much deeper our understanding of these vineyards has become and how clearly that understanding now shows in the wines.

Today, I feel that I am in the prime of my career.

I am excited to release the first handful of wines from the 2024 vintage. Quantities are very limited and these wines will be sold on a first come, first served basis.

This release includes:

• 2024 Kutch Sonoma Coast Chardonnay $42
• 2024 Kutch Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir $43
• 2024 Kutch Mindego Ridge Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir $69
• 2024 Kutch Falstaff Vineyard Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir $69
• 2024 Kutch Bohan Graveyard Block Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir $69

The 2024 vintage is one of the most complete and compelling collections of wines we have ever produced. The balance, transparency, and site expression are exactly what we have been working toward for two decades, and the early critical response confirms it.

John Gilman of View from the Cellar delivered one of the strongest sets of reviews that we have ever received.

He describes the wines as stunning, exceptional, beautifully balanced, soil driven, and outstanding juice in the making.

“These are serious wines with real longevity, but they are also deeply pleasurable now with air.” John Gilman.

Jancis Robinson describes the wines as serious, complex, and made to age, praising their transparency, purity of fruit, and firm but refined structure. She highlights the impressive persistence, soil driven character, and savory depth across the lineup, calling multiple bottlings edgy and distinctive, heady and alluring, and outstanding expressions of site. In her words, these are wines with real personality.

Alder Yarrow of Vinography said, “Jamie Kutch, who has been honing his craft for two decades now as a soulful producer of some of California’s finest Pinot Noirs. The 2024 vintage, which he begins to release in January, is his 20th, and tasting them, you get the impression of a winemaker who has truly hit his stride.”

Production remains extremely small. Several of these wines are under two hundred cases and the Graveyard Block is only a handful of barrels. Based on early interest and the strength of these reviews, I expect multiple wines to sell out quickly.

If you have followed our wines for any length of time, please buy with confidence. It is rare for a vintage to show this level of precision, harmony, and vineyard voice across the entire lineup.

This is that vintage!

Thank you, as always, for supporting our work and these special vineyards. I hope these wines find a place in your cellar and at your table.

Warmly,
Jamie

Jamie, I have been with you since the get-go. Long road, lot of wine, lot of learning and your resilience to learn, edit and grow into the wines that are yours today. I am proud of you, friend. Order in.

Congrats! I remember Jamie from some fun vinocellar dinners and he was always generous with the wines…we still have some 2014s in the cellar. So glad to see he and his team have met with much success…

The website is very nice. Had a hopefully easy request to add a photo for each of the different soil types referenced in the vineyard descriptions.

Thanks David. The request goes to me as I built the website so, it’s easy. It’s a good idea and I will do as you say! Here is one set that is fascinating to me. The white label Bohan Pinot is planted on goldridge and is red fruited and elegant. The black label Bohan Graveyard Pinot is planted on sandstone, shale and quartz and is dark fruited, intense and powerful.

This is a picture of Bohan’s mother block, goldridge soils after it’s structure has been destroyed due to tilling.

This is a picture of the Bohan’s Graveyard block on the the same parcel of land planted on sandstone, shale and quartz soils

I think I got in for the 2006 vintage (CT says I drank two of the 2006 McDougal), and I have one SC and one McDougal from 2007 left. Might have to open one up this weekend. Have really enjoyed these wines from the start.
