Once and Future Spring 2025 Release

Our Spring release, featuring the complex and elegant Once & Future 2023 vintage wines, will take place at 9:00 am PST on Tuesday, March 4, 2025.

The offering will be open until 11:59 pm PSTon
Friday, March 14, 2025.

I will be releasing seven vineyard-designated wines from my 2023 vintage and our 2022 Vintners Blend Now (the namesake of my best-selling wine from Ravenswood days, but more akin to the greater intensity of the Sonoma County series in weight and character).

2023 Bedrock Vineyard Zinfandel
“The 2023 Zinfandel Bedrock Vineyard is a potent, explosive wine. Dark red-toned fruit, leather, cedar, spice and dried herbs all race across the palate. This blend of 80% Zinfandel and 20% Mixed Blacks is quite the powerhouse. I find the oak imprint a bit strong at this early stage.”

2023 Belloni Vineyard Zinfandel
“The 2023 Zinfandel Belloni Vineyard is one of the finest wines in this range. Dark, ample and layered, the 2023 captures the heart of Zinfandel in the Russian River Valley, one of the most important centers of viticulture in the United States. All the elements are so well balanced. Silky tannins wrap around the explosive finish. Alicante Bouschet, Mataro, Carignane and Petite Sirah round out the blend. What a stunner.”

2023 Dickerson Vineyard Zinfandel
“The 2023 Zinfandel Dickerson Vineyard, from a site planted in the late 1920s, is another beguiling wine from Joel Peterson. Intensely aromatic and lifted, the 2023 is all charm. Blue/purplish fruit, lavender, hard candy, cassis and a kiss of French oak all meld together.”

2023 Green & Red Vineyard Zinfandel
“The 2023 Zinfandel Green & Red Vineyard is laced with macerated cherry, spice, cedar, sweet pipe tobacco, mint and dried flowers. There’s a touch of new oak sweetness that works so well here in complementing some of the savory notes that are present from the 15% Petite Sirah.”

94 Points - Vinous, Antonio Galloni | Review Date - January 2025

2023 Old Hill Ranch Zinfandel
“The 2023 Zinfandel Old Hill Vineyard is another of the very best wines in this range. The high presence of mixed blacks yields an intensely aromatic, vibrant Zinfandel that delivers the goods. Silky, perfumed and phenomenally long, the Old Hill captures all the magic of Sonoma Valley. The purity of the fruit is mesmerizing.”

96 Points - Vinous, Antonio Galloni | Review Date - January 2025

2023 Teldeschi Vineyard “Frank’s Block” Zinfandel
“The 2023 Zinfandel Teldeschi Vineyard Frank’s Block emerges from vines planted in 1904, the oldest on the property. It’s a fabulous crescendo in this series of wines from Joel Peterson. Intense aromatics make a strong first impression. Crushed flowers, sage, mint, chocolate, spice, new leather and tobacco are some of the many notes that race across the palate. Dollops of Carignane and Alicante Bouschet add character.”

98 Points - Vinous, Antonio Galloni | Review Date - January 2023

2023 Vogensen Vineyard Zinfandel
“The 2023 Zinfandel Vogensen Vineyard is elegant, silky and nuanced, all of which make it a fine choice for drinking now and over the next 15-20 years. Crushed flowers, vibrant red/purplish fruit and spice all grace this delicate, mid-weight Zinfandel. This is impeccably done.”

The case quantities are limited. Each wine is handcrafted in small, open-topped redwood fermenters, fermented with native yeast and indigenous malolactic bacteria. All are aged in small French oak cooperage. These wines are a clear expression of my intent for Once & Future and a tribute to traditional winemaking.

Thank you for your support of Once & Future. I look forward to sharing these wines with you soon!

Cheers,
Joel

Yep, OH and Teldeschi is the move for sure!

Some of the others sound interesting as well but will prob stick to those two.

Buying at least a bottle or two of them. I’m really interested in what the notes on the Vintners Blend Now. The last Napa zin was an absolute steal.

In for a mixed case. Heavy on Belloni, Old Hill, and Teldeschi, singletons of some others. Really looking forward to these in a few years.
