Offsite wine storage in the "OC"

I am moving to Southern Orange County and I am interested in any feedback from people who are customers of any of the offsite wine storage places in Southern Orange County. I have found listings for 3 different sites in Irvine alone: the Wine Cellar Club, Legend Cellars, and Magellan Cellars. Any feedback you can offer would be helpful.

Thanks

Dennis

There is also Storquest in Anaheim Hills which is crazy cheap and has awesome access times, basically 7am-12pm they are open, they also receive wine shipments for free. Doesn’t have the cool party areas like Legends/WC but who needs thos frills when you’re paying half the price with WAY better access hours.

WCC has good pricing and nice facilities. One of the two owners is very nice and a pleasure to interface with; the other owner is a Grade-A jerkface. Many members here who cellar at WCC will not back my post up publicly (out of fear), but will, behind the scenes (perhaps via PM), tell you I am telling the truth.

I cellar at Legends. Nothing but great things to say about the ownership and especially Jen Miller who runs the place and is an all around great girl. I hear the dude at WCC is a major D-bag like Brian said above, but I’ve never met him. Lots of board members cellar at both places, you should go look at all of them if you have time. Every place will store at the correct temperature and humidity, what sets them apart is service. I would cellar at Legends again and again just for Jen.

I know many many happy people at Legends.

Storquest used to also give you 24 / 7 access to your wine. Not sure if that is the case anymore.

I know people storing at each and happy.

I used to store at WCC, but am now at Legend, mostly for the reasons that BeeGee and Dr. Kim note. I now have a shared walk-in and a locker, right next to the GasMan, Dr. Joe. Besides Jen and the somewhat greater ease of Legend (if you have a locker at WCC across the street, it can be a hike moving any shipments from the main building), there are the parties every 5-6 weeks when there is music and wine flowing … and lots of eye candy to boot.

Mostly cougars, but sometimes kitties. The parties are pretty fun.

Who do the kitties come with!? I thought only old people drink wine!

Except for one regular, Dr. K, at my age, they are ALL kitties to me…

True dat. At least I have that to look forward to.

I would guess that only 20% of the people at the party are members of Legends. The rest are “guests” of members. Also, a fair amount of crashers that want free wine and get sloshed. I wonder if any hanky panky goes on in some of the walk-in lockers…come to think of it, Dietz has a walk-in locker.

I’ve never had the issues with him that some others have had during my time there (still there). Then again, about 99% of the time I’m dealing with Felicia who always seems to have a smile on her face and is great to deal with. Otherwise I like Wine Cellar Club for nothing more than the attention to detail and piece of mind I have from owners who take very active roll in keeping my (and others) wines safe and well stored. And the occasional perk of using their nice facilities for gatherings or just hanging out chatting with people I’ve never met over some vino [cheers.gif]

I too stored at WCC 2 different times over last 17 years and always had great service with Felicia as well. IIRC she was dating/living with other owner but never had any real interaction with him at all. He always seemed to be off doing something. Love to hear some stories though!!! I know he is a real franco-phile when it comes to wine.
Would recommend the place. There is also a storage facility in the same building as Envoyer in Laguna Niguel (the name escapes me) that looks pretty classy.
Love having me vino at home now.

Yeah, Felicia is awesome. The other one, though, not so much. Consider yourself lucky that you haven’t been subjected to either his haughtiness or his pissy pissoff attitude.

Thank you all, or is that y’all since it is “Southern” Orange County. I appreciate the input. i went down to Legends and looked over the facilities and I really liked some of the features available and Jen seemed very nice. Hopefully they will still have the size space I need in January. I’d hate to pay for December if I can’t move in until January. I look forward to meeting some fellow Berserkers there and sharing some wine and talk.
