Official Costco Thread

Dave, how would you compare the 2008 to the 2012?

Too lazy to search the thread and I may have already posted this myself, but grab a case of the Kirkland Champagne. Scratches the itch of wanting crisp bubbles and is guilt-free at $20.

$158 to $174

always an easy grab any time we need decent champagne that impresses all types of people.

FWIW the Kirkland Prosecco is our go to for mimosas, and its also guilt-free at like $6/bottle

I have had this a few times. The Roederer Anderson Valley 9/2020 is better and less money. champagne.gif

2017 Kirkland Barolo received today at Costco Maplewood MN. $19.99

im curious to hear peoples thoughts on this one. the 16 was very good for the money but 17 is a very different vintage. kind of like the Chablis… I loved it two years ago, did not like last year, and like this years again

Not sure. Have not tried 2012 yet. I have heard 2012 is better, but what do I know? As I told Jeff Nowak today, I prefer Salon.

Good to know on North Scottsdale! Do you know if they just got em in? Phoenix/Cactus location didn’t have any last time I was there and they wine guy didn’t know if/when his order would come in.

Save me a couple if you can spare them, gents…still no sign of it in IA and I’ll be there mid March champagne.gif

Costco is out of Dom in Arizona as they searched for me yesterday when I picked up the last 5 bottles of 2012.

Well damn! You couldn’t even leave me a couple??

I am curious as well. My understanding is that this is Fontanafredda (or at least it’s made by their winemaker), and my view on them is that they are particularly consistent in their Serralunga wine even in lesser vintages. For me, the last vintages of the Kirkland Barolo ('15 and '16) were both about the best $20 Nebbiolos I’ve come across and among the best QPR wines of the last couple of years.

Opened a bottle tonight - very nice, as good as the '16.

Fontanafredda would make some sense; in 2010 Costco convinced them to bottle up 1L bottles that were sold at 750ml prices. That was a solution to the property not undercutting their normal sales channels. I did not see the big bottles any more after that, perhaps their usual agents got mad and requested that end.

Got one today at that same price to try it out and see if it might be worth cellaring.
For that price, not much to lose worth case scenario

Wow!
