Theopolis Vineyards is happy to be back for our Ninth BerserkerDay!

Theopolis Vineyards is a small-lot vineyard and hand-crafted winery located in California’s Yorkville Highlands of the Anderson Valley. Our primary emphasis is Petite Sirah, a decidedly dark purple grape that I believe does not get enough attention. We produce it as both a red and a rosé. We also make a lithe Pinot Noir, a delightfully complex Petite Sirah blend called Cuvée Cerise, and a pair of white wines - Symphony and Cuvée Blanc.

For those of you who don’t know me, I am a lawyer by trade. Like many in my profession, I developed a passion for wine. In 2001, I took that passion to the next level, purchasing a tract of sheep land in the Yorkville Highlands. By 2003, I had planted my first vines. I started out selling fruit to established producers like Mike Officer of Carlisle and Paul Gordon of Halcon, and then decided to make my own wine as well. It was hard work, but it was rewarding to see the land begin to give back what had been put into it.

I also find it rewarding to give back. I currently serve as Co-Chair of Board of the Dallas Post Tribune, the oldest Black-owned newspaper in North Texas. I also established The Theopolis Vineyards Diversity Fund at UC Davis to help create more diversity in viticulture and enology. Recently, I was selected to serve on the Executive Leadership Board (ELB), an advisory group for the UC Davis Department of Viticulture and Enology.

Theopolis Vineyards’ wines are well-scored. We are pleased that our Theopolis Estate Grown Petite Sirah has consistently scored 90+ Points, Cellar Selection at Wine Enthusiast (WE).

Order in! Thanks!

@Carrie_Morgan Thank you for your order! I recognized you have bought our Berserker specials before! We are so glad you are enjoying our wine. I will be sending once the cold front next week passes so we can get your wine to you at the best quality. Thanks again!

Your Petite Sirah is one of my Aunt and I’s favorite wines!

No hurry on shipping, we are in central Nebraska and still deep in Winter.

@Carrie_Morgan That’s so great to hear! This vertical of the petites is a great one. The 2021 Petite Sirah is one of my favorites, but they are all good.

Stay warm! I keep an eye on the weather so I will send it out once it gets warmer.

Love your PS; bought 2 trios: E.Kurtzman PS; introducing son to Theopolis and Beserkers.
Thank you.
Dee

@dee_b Thank you for your order! I hope you and your son enjoy the Petite Sirah. We appreciate your support throughout the years. This is a great community to be apart of and a lot of fun!

This thread should have the most epic pic of all - of me and Theodora together at Pinot Days a couple years ago!

Just ordered, can’t wait to try!

@ToddFrench How could we forget to add that epic picture!

@WadeS Thank you for your order! The sampler is a great way to try some of our top rated reds!

Hi Theodora,

I’m familiar with the vineyard from the days of Paul Gordon / Halcon. I think I tried some back then, but memory doesn’t alway serve me. Had a question from your POV - given the vintages on the PS would you recommend them as a hold for a bit more bottle aging? Thanks!

@ncostanzo1 Hi Nick, yes did sell to Halcon previously, good memory! All of our Petite Sirahs are ready to drink now, but can be laid down for 10+ years. The 2020 and 2021 have been drinking really well currently, but we did just release the 2022 so it could have some more laying down time if that is your preference. There is no rush to enjoy these wines!
All of our Petite Sirahs are bottled unfined, unfiltered, so the structure of the wine will not be going anywhere!

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. Primary reason I was asking I felt a lot of Petite Sirah’s I’ve had over the years benefited from extra bottle aging vs a “pop & pour” up release. Thanks again. Really interested to read up on these wines, I love BD presenting new opportunities to learn about producers that were right under our noses.

@ncostanzo1 You are very welcome! Yes I would recommend decanting the new vintage just to make sure it can let the wine breath a little bit. We do pride ourselves on our quality and wine making practices, so they are enjoyable at any stage after release. Thank you for looking into our wines and vineyard! We really appreciate BD for giving all of us a wonderful platform!

Excited to try these wines!!

Ordered the vertical and looking forward to giving it a try.

@elenadag Thank you! we are excited for you try our wines. We appreciate your support!

@Paul.M Thank you for your order. That’s a great choice! Please enjoy the wine!
