A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT MYSELF…aka TLDR
I’m originally from Wisconsin. I moved to New York City with friends to try & become rockstars in 2002. When you’re an out of work artist in NYC, what do you do? Wait tables. I started working for B.R. Guest restaurants & worked my way up through the company eventually becoming Wine Director of Blue Fin. I was mentored by Master Sommelier Laura Maniec & obtained the Certified rank with the Court of Master Sommeliers. Soon after, I went on the inaugural “RoadTrip WA Wine” in 2008 that was sponsored by the WA Wine Commission, learned about the Center for Enology & Viticulture at the Walla Walla Community College, & moved from New York City to Walla Walla in 2011 to learn how to make wine. I worked at Gramercy Cellars for 3 years as Tasting Room/Wine Club Manager. I then headed over to M&L Productions as “cellar master” & started Time & Direction in 2016. I like to focus on food friendly wines, which generally means low alcohol/high acid. I like to bring my personality to every label by making them all different based on things that have been important to him during his lifetime. I’m also the artist & graphic designer for most of the labels. Entering the Time & Direction tasting room is like stepping into my brain with 80s & 90’s pop culture references, music, video games, & of course wine, decorating all the walls. Not your average tasting room experience. It isn’t often that you’ll hear lo-fi jazz music playing one minute & then heavy metal the next. In my “spare” time, I raise 3 awesome kids, play music in a cover duo called Total BS (stands for Ben & Steve) & have started travelling quite extensively for work. Thanks for looking at my offers. 1.21 Gigawatts?!?!?! Where am I going to get that kind of power?!?!! As a child of the 80’s, the pop culture from that decade has shaped me into the person I am today. This label is an hommage to that time. This collection features 1 bottle of every vintage of the whilte field blend from Les Collines vineyard in Walla Walla. All grapes are picked on the same day, pressed and co-fermented together, just to see what happens. Unfined, unfiltered, & not cold stabilized, expect lots of haze & also solids once chilled down. Every blend is different & percentages are based on the weights given to me by the vineyard. Cote Rotie is arguably one of my favorite appellations. The Old School is made from Syrah from the Solaksen Vineyard in the Royal Slope AVA & is co-fermented with Viognier from the nearby Corfu Crossing Vineyard. Generally, there is 5% Viognier included, but has gone as high as 7% & as low as 0%. The laws in Cote Rotie say that you can include up to 20% but they don’t say anything about omitting it entirely This collection includes one bottle of each year that I’ve made of this wine, except for the inaugural 2016 vintage.
