What a wonderful night it was! Many, many thanks to Eldon and Clara for opening up their home and showing such hospitality. It was so nice to catch up with the old gang and meet some new faces and there was a wealth of terrific food and wine. I was actually quite ppleasantly surprised by all the European selections.
Btw, Eldon’s Star Trek room is so full of win, I can’t even begin to describe it!
What a lovely evening! I had a great time, the food was spectacular and the wines were all tasty. Thank you Eldon and Clara for opening up your house for us.
Well, we got all the dishes and glasses collected to the kitchen, all the tables cleaned, all the bottles into the recycle bin, the trash all picked up and disposed, the chairs all stacked, and then we went off to watch the Angels win 4-2. Now we have everything washed and put away and it is time to sit and do nothing. Wonderful evening everyone, thank you for coming and bringing such great food. Most I have eaten at a party here in a long time!! I think I got the last tidbit of Jay’s pork belly, the last of Brad’s caprise, the last of a bunch of sausages, never saw any crab cakes, had a bunch of the chicken on the toothpicks, etc. Amazing what a selection of wines you can get when you say pot luck. Wow. Some were even worth drinking. Thanks Mark for the Bellas, I found myself returning to it several times and somehow it just works for me. And there was a 77 port, I saw it come in, I saw the empty bottle this morning. Thanks Andy, was it good?
OH - we also have a digital camera left abandoned on one of the outdoor tables. Anyone claim it?
Clara and Eldon, Can’t thank you both enough for having us all over. It was a splended time full of good food, wine, and great friendships, new and old. OPH was a true treat and one day I’ll have to take a dip in the old cistern. Also have to thank everyone for breaking out some very nice wines to share. Oh, and the 1977 Warre’s was nice, albeit showing a touch more heat than usual. Sorry you didn’t get any, it went faster than usual, but I promise to bring something older for you next time
Thanks again for another amazing party at the OPH………… It was great to see old friends and meet new ones………Your generosity and Hospitality are always first class……….
The foods were all great, especially Jay’s smoked pork belly’s, he really knows how to prepare his meat……
I didn’t try all the wines, who could??? I was enjoying the white wines on the patio with the perfect weather in Tustin Hills…………
Thanks to all who attended, Great people, great wines and wonderful food……
Special thanks to Francine H. for bringing the Dark chocolate Smore’s makings. It was fun to roast the marshmallows over the fire and assemble………
Well, I now know what I have been missing all these years. I am a fool for not attending the previous events, but I will not repeat the same mistake. Flawless event.
Jay
p.s Next time I will prepare a whole pork belly. Boy did it go fast.
I made it back to Merced yesterday, unscathed. Thanks Eldon and Clara for the hospitality. My first time there. You sure know how to throw a party. Great variety of wines; something for everyone.
Thanks again to the hosts and to the attendees for bringing all the great wines. I missed a bunch but still was very happy with what I did get to taste.
You are all welcome everyone.
We are still looking for the owner of the camera. Clara thought to look at some of the photos in it to see if we could figure it out, but of course the battery is dead.
Anyone forget their camera???
I wonder if Leah left it? Her sister left at my place in NY when they were both here in December and I returned it to Leah at your place. Maybe leaving a camera behind runs in the family?
Echoing everyone’s praise for Eldon & Clara - the perfect hosts at a great venue!
Robin, just so there is no confusion, Francine Haight brought the S’Mores makings (in case anyone thought it was Francine Hubbard). It is rare to find two Francines at any gathering; to find two Francine H’s is really rare!
I think Leah’s or her friend (Catherine “Cay” Templeton) may have left the camera - I saw it on their table in the corner under the eaves. If the battery is dead, you can pull the memory card and look at it on the computer or even your own camera. If you find anything compromising, be sure to post!
Glad you enjoyed the Bella’s, Eldon! I have a couple more left that I will only bring to events you are attending!
Andy, the '77 Warre’s was wonderful; thanks for bringing it! We need to do another port tasting soon!
